Preparing for an EV Charger Installation

Thursday, October 22, 2026

An EV charger enquiry starts with the charger, the parking location and the electrical system that will supply it. You do not need to decide whether a new panel is required before contacting us. Matrix Mechanical reviews the equipment and site before defining the work.

What to send with your request

  • The service address and whether the work is residential or commercial.
  • The vehicle and charger make/model, charger specifications, and whether you already own the charger.
  • The proposed charging location, whether it is indoors or outdoors, and the approximate distance from the electrical panel.
  • Accessible photographs of the parking location and the closed electrical panel, taken from a safe position.
  • Your preferred timing and any other planned equipment, renovation or electrical work.

Do not remove panel covers or approach exposed electrical parts to obtain photographs. If information is difficult or unsafe to reach, tell the office instead.

What the electrical review establishes

The available electrical supply, panel space, charger requirements and cable route affect the installation scope. A spare breaker space alone does not establish that the system can supply the proposed charger. Any panel or service changes are reviewed as part of the work, rather than assumed from a photograph.

Compare the complete quotation

  • Who supplies the charging equipment and which wiring, breaker and mounting work are included.
  • The cable route, access requirements and responsibility for opening or repairing finishes.
  • Any panel or service changes and applicable permit, inspection or utility coordination.
  • Testing, handover information, exclusions and approval of changes discovered during the work.

Choose the right next step

Installation is planned work. Request an estimate or call 506.696.7000 with the location and equipment details. Routine online repair booking is a different route.
